The Story of Tech Computer :

An American Dream

In January of 1991, Mike and SunCha DeSario started a small computer business and named it Tech Computer. It was fate that gave birth to this small, independent business as Mike, a computer technician of twenty years, was laid off from the large company for which he worked. Although this result of downsizing devastated them, it also gave them the incentive to become their own bosses and build a business of their own .

Using the little money they had saved over the years, they started a business that would cater to the discerning customer. They began building quality, custom-built computers to fit any budget. Mike used his computer and technical expertise to service name brand systems as well as his own. SunCha, on the other hand, used her customer service and business skills to work with customers, bring new business and to make sure they kept coming back. Between the two of them, Mike and SunCha were able to offer customers a system that would fit their needs and budget as well as to provide the best in personalized customer service.

Business, at first was a little slow. However, customers of Mike's previous employer began asking for his services. Mike was able to build a clientele of his own. And that is where "word-of-mouth" advertising started. Satisfied customers were recommending their family and friends to Tech Computer. Customers loved the personal attention they received. Instead of going to a "big" computer store and not being able to talk to a knowledgeable sales person, they were able to talk one-on-one with an expert.

Well, as you can guess, business began to improve rapidly. The store became too small for its needs. After about one year of excellent business, Mike and SunCha decided to relocate to a larger store front. This is where they established themselves in their community, building accounts with hospitals, universities, government offices and other local businesses. After hiring additional help, Mike and SunCha were also able to pursue computer trade shows. This increased the recognition of Tech Computer beyond the boundaries of its region.

In June of 1995, Tech Computer relocated for the third time. They moved to a small plaza at the corners of Graham Rd. and Gilbert Rd. in a high traffic area. Customers who never knew that Tech Computer existed were now noticing the store on their way to and from work, school or while shopping in the busy retail location. Shortly thereafter, the store went from a proprietorship to a corporation, thus changing the name to Tech Computer, Inc.

In June of 2002, Tech Computer, Inc. moved yet again to the Iemma Plaza at the corner of Graham and Bailey Roads. Taking over three units in the plaza where Kirby Meats used to be, Tech a found a comfortable new home again. And this time, with a better and more accessible parking area.

Although the growth of Tech Computer, Inc. has increased substantially since the first days of its opening, the store has remained loyal to its customers and to the idea of small, independent business. This family business has strived to excel in customer service and quality, not aspiring to be a nationwide chain of computer / appliances / electronics stores. Through its years in business and despite many changes, Tech has held true to its original mission: To produce quality, custom-built computer systems that can fit any budget and to service and repair computers while ensuring excellent customer service.

And just to think, fourteen years ago a husband and a wife decided to build a dream............and succeeded!
